Official rules
Last updated November 6, 2026.
The short version
- 1Build and ship an app with DeepSpace. Deploy it during a round and submit the live link with a short description. A 30 to 90 second demo video is optional.
- 2Four weekly rounds. Nov 9 to 15, Nov 16 to 22, Nov 23 to 29 and Nov 30 to Dec 6, each closing Sunday at 11:59 pm ET.
- 3Free to enter. No purchase or payment needed. Valid entries also earn guaranteed bonus credits.
- 4Prizes every round. $100, $50 and $25 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Cash goes to winners 18+ who are US citizens or green card holders. Everyone else, including people in the US on a visa, gets the same value in DeepSpace credits.
- 5Judged by staff. DeepSpace staff score usefulness, craft, use of DeepSpace and clarity. Community reactions are just for fun and don't pick winners.
- 6Open to 18+ almost everywhere. Teams of up to 4 can enter. Some countries and regions are excluded or can't win prizes; see section 3.
- 7Use any tools you like. AI coding tools are welcome. The work has to be yours and follow the entry rules.
- 8You keep your app. We can show it in the gallery and our marketing. Winners are announced on this site within about 5 business days of each round.
The full official rules follow. Entering means you agree to them.
No purchase or payment necessary to enter or win. Void where prohibited. This is a contest of skill. Winners are chosen by judges. There is no random drawing.
1. Sponsor
The challenge is run by Eudaimonic Inc., doing business as DeepSpace ("DeepSpace", "we" or "us"), a New York corporation, 23 Wheeler Rd, Setauket, NY 11733. Contact: mohit@deep.space.
2. Dates
The challenge has four weekly rounds. All times are US Eastern Time (ET).
| Round | Opens | Closes |
|---|---|---|
| Round 1 | Mon Nov 9, 2026, 12:00 am | Sun Nov 15, 2026, 11:59 pm |
| Round 2 | Mon Nov 16, 2026, 12:00 am | Sun Nov 22, 2026, 11:59 pm |
| Round 3 | Mon Nov 23, 2026, 12:00 am | Sun Nov 29, 2026, 11:59 pm |
| Round 4 | Mon Nov 30, 2026, 12:00 am | Sun Dec 6, 2026, 11:59 pm |
An entry counts in the round in which it is submitted. Our server clock is the official clock. Late entries roll into the next round. Entries after Round 4 closes are not accepted.
3. Who can enter
You can enter if you are 18 or older when you enter and you live in a country or region where this challenge is legal.
You cannot enter if:
- you live in, or are ordinarily resident in, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, the Crimea region, or the so-called Donetsk or Luhansk People's Republics;
- you are on a US sanctions or export-control list, including the US Treasury OFAC Specially Designated Nationals list, or are owned or controlled by someone who is; or
- you are an employee, contractor, intern or judge of DeepSpace, or a member of the household or immediate family of one.
You can enter, but cannot win a round prize, if you live in Russia, Belarus, the province of Quebec, Italy or Brazil.
Each person's eligibility is decided on their own, including on teams (see section 5).
4. How to enter
- Create a free DeepSpace account, using the challenge join link on this site or at deep.space. New accounts created through the join link (code SHIPIT) before the season ends get 500 DeepSpace credits ($5), which expire January 6, 2027 at 11:59 pm ET. Existing accounts can enter without it.
- Build an app with DeepSpace and deploy it during the round. It must be live on its app.space URL or on a custom domain connected through DeepSpace. Deploying on a free account does not require payment.
- Submit the entry form on this site before the round closes. Include:
- the live app URL;
- a short description of what the app does and who it is for; and
- optionally, a link to a 30 to 90 second demo video.
Entry is free. You do not need to buy anything, upgrade your plan, or add a payment method to enter or win. A purchase does not improve your chances.
Apps first built before a round can be entered only if they are deployed during that round.
You may submit more than one app in a round. An app that does not win may be improved and entered again in a later round. An app can win only once across the whole challenge.
The app and its URL must stay live and reachable until judging for that round ends. If we cannot open it, we may not be able to judge it.
5. Teams
Teams of up to 4 people may enter. One member submits for the team and lists every member's name and DeepSpace account email. Every member must be eligible to enter.
A team prize is split evenly among members. Each member's share is paid in cash or credits based on that member's own eligibility (see section 8). A person can be on more than one team, but the one-prize limit in section 8 still applies.
6. Entry rules
Your entry must:
- be your own work, or your team's. You may use AI coding tools and assistants, and we encourage it;
- respect the license of any open-source code, fonts, images or other assets you use;
- not contain malware, spyware, phishing or anything that harms users or devices;
- not be illegal, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or infringe anyone's rights;
- not impersonate a real person, company or brand, or collect personal data without telling users; and
- follow the DeepSpace Terms of Service at deep.space/terms.
We may reject or remove any entry that breaks these rules, at any time, including after it wins.
7. Guaranteed bonus credits
Entrants earn DeepSpace credits for reaching these targets during the challenge. Each target pays once per person.
| Target | Credits |
|---|---|
| Your first valid entry | 2,500 |
| Valid entries in 2 different rounds | 2,500 more |
| 3 different apps entered | 5,000 more |
| 25 reactions on one entered app | 2,500 more |
| One entered app reaches 25 users (distinct signed-in DeepSpace users, as counted by DeepSpace) | 5,000 more |
100 credits are worth $1 USD. Credits are added to the entrant's account within about 7 days of the round closing in which the target was reached. For a team entry, credits go to the member who submitted it.
Credits have no cash value, cannot be transferred or exchanged for money, and follow the DeepSpace Terms of Service, including any expiry. Reactions or users that come from fake accounts, bots or similar tricks do not count (see section 11).
8. Prizes
Each round has three prizes:
| Place | Cash (eligible winners) | Credits (all other winners) |
|---|---|---|
| 1st | $100 USD | 10,000 credits |
| 2nd | $50 USD | 5,000 credits |
| 3rd | $25 USD | 2,500 credits |
Total cash across four rounds is up to $700 USD. 100 credits are worth $1 USD.
Cash. Cash prizes go only to winners who are 18 or older and are US citizens or lawful permanent residents (green card holders). Cash is paid through a US payment method: a gift card, PayPal, Venmo or a US bank account. The winner picks from the options we offer.
Credits. All other winners, including people in the United States on a visa, and winners who cannot receive payment through a US payment method, receive the same value in DeepSpace credits instead.
Limits. A person can win at most one prize per round. A person can win in more than one round. Prizes cannot be transferred. We may substitute a prize of equal or greater value if needed.
Fewer prizes. If a round does not have enough entries that meet these rules, we may award fewer than three prizes in that round.
Taxes. Winners are responsible for any taxes on their prize.
9. Judging
DeepSpace staff judge every valid entry in a round after it closes. Judges score each entry on:
| Criterion | Weight |
|---|---|
| Usefulness and originality: does it solve a real problem, or do something fresh? | 35% |
| Craft and polish: does it work, and is it pleasant to use? | 30% |
| Use of DeepSpace: how well it uses DeepSpace features such as auth, database, realtime, storage or AI | 20% |
| Clarity: how clearly the description or demo shows what the app does | 15% |
The demo video is optional. An entry without one is judged on its description and the live app.
Ties are broken by the higher craft and polish score, then by a vote of the judges. Judges' decisions are final.
This site shows community reactions, XP and a leaderboard for fun. They do not decide winners and do not affect scores.
10. Winners
We announce each round's winners on this site within about 5 business days after the round closes. We also contact winners by the email on their DeepSpace account.
To claim a prize, a winner must reply within 7 days and confirm their name, that they are 18 or older, their country, (for cash) that they are a US citizen or green card holder, and their payout choice. If a winner does not reply in time, cannot be verified, or is not eligible, they forfeit the prize and we may award it to the next highest scoring entry.
We aim to pay prizes within about 30 days after a winner confirms their details.
11. Fraud and fair play
We may disqualify anyone who, in our judgment, uses more than one account, uses bots or scripts to enter or to inflate reactions or users, submits someone else's work, tampers with the challenge, or breaks these rules. We may withhold or take back any prize or credits obtained this way.
12. Your rights in your app
You keep ownership of your app and everything you made for it.
By entering, you give DeepSpace a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to show your name or team name, app name, app link, description, screenshots and demo video in the challenge gallery and in DeepSpace marketing, during and after the challenge. You can ask us to remove your entry from the gallery at any time by emailing us. Content already published, such as past posts, may stay.
You confirm that you have the right to grant this license.
13. Privacy
We use the information you give us to run the challenge: to check eligibility, judge entries, contact and pay winners, and add credits. We also record how you found the challenge (for example, which ad or link you came from) to measure our outreach. Our privacy policy applies: deep.space/privacy. We do not sell your information.
14. Social platforms
This promotion is not sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Meta (Facebook, Instagram), Reddit, TikTok or X. You are providing your information to DeepSpace, not to any of those platforms.
15. General terms
- Void where prohibited. The challenge is void where prohibited or restricted by law.
- Changes. We may change, pause or cancel the challenge, or a round, if fraud, a technical problem, or anything else outside our control affects it. If that happens, we may judge the valid entries received before the problem. We will post any change on this site.
- Release. By entering, you agree to release DeepSpace and its staff from claims arising from the challenge, your entry or any prize, except where the law does not allow it.
- Limitation of liability. To the extent the law allows, DeepSpace is not responsible for lost, late or incomplete entries, technical failures, or errors in the challenge materials. DeepSpace's total liability to any entrant is limited to the value of the prize that entrant won, if any.
- Governing law. These rules are governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA. Any dispute is resolved in the state or federal courts in New York.
- Agreement. Entering means you agree to these rules and to the judges' decisions.
- Questions and winners list. Email mohit@deep.space or write to Eudaimonic Inc., 23 Wheeler Rd, Setauket, NY 11733.
